Green Zone, where the COP of the people comes to life
The invitation to apply for events for this agenda was public and open. Registrations were developed in the first half of 2024, initially more than 1400 proposals were received, of which 42% were submitted by social organizations. Applications were received from more than 30 countries.
All applications were rigorously evaluated by thematic leaders and professionals from the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and the National Environmental System (SINA). One of the main aspects taken into account by the evaluators for the review of the proposals was the relevance and coherence of the events with the thematic lines and general objectives of COP16.
It should be noted that the academic and research sector in the region has joined forces to add more than 100 events to this agenda, many of which will take place at various universities. Around 20 institutions will offer programming within the framework of COP16.
This programming aims to promote the mobilization and participation of the community around COP16, bringing the community closer to various key issues for the conservation of biodiversity and the future of the planet.
